Conventional nationwide or international pagers typically cover areas near major metropolitan areas. An Iridium 9501 pager will give you 160 character paging or (text) email reception nearly anywhere on earth. The reason Iridium paging is global is that your message goes through the Iridium's network of 66 LEO (low-earth-orbit) satellites. Unlike Iridium phone service, Iridium paging usually works indoors as well.

Pages can be sent by email, web interface, or by calling the pager's phone number (480 U.S. area code). You have a choice of 150 messages max per month or unlim ited messages per month. The Iridium Motorola 9501 pager looks and functions like an ordinary belt-type pager and runs about 30 days on an AA alkaline-type battery.

Your Choice: Stand-Alone or Follow-Me Paging

Iridium offers two kinds of service. "Follow-Me Paging" automatically sets the Message Delivery Area (MDA) to the last area from which you made an Iridium phone call. Stand-Alone Paging allows you to set up to 3 MDAs for your Iridium pager, which are regions in the world in which you would receive a page. You can change the MDAs by phone or through the web without charge. Most messages will be delivered within a few minutes, but actual delivery time depends on the length of the message

Monthly payment:

1. unlimited number of messages received - 175 USD per month.

2. up to 100 messages in a month - 95 USD per month.

The rate includes 3 Geozone (MDA) at the same time. Change of MDA is free.
